about
Bonjour Madame was born whilst just about scraping by in London, working in bars and other assorted odd jobs. I became frustrated at the cycle of rent-paying with seemingly little time for music. Burdened by the weight of the political climate in the UK, I fantasised about an escape across the English Channel to the European continent. Through my Parisian dream never materialised, my little song found its way to a recording studio in Nashville, Tennessee.

Well now that I’m not the family overachiever
Got to figure out my raison d’être
Wait up all night for the big idea
Wake up in a cold sweat, overslept, I’m late again
Sometimes I take a trip down to the beach
There’s not a beach in this city, but its not so hard to reach
We swim around and around and around
Chew the fat, while we’re shedding fat (its win-win)
But then one morning I had an almond croissant for breakfast
Took me back to the time in school we took a boat to France (it was a catamaran)
New lands, strange food, no rules, every body just a little confused
Never learned many words, we still made ourselves heard
Bonjour Madame, comment tu t’appelles?
Bonjour Madame, comment tu t’appelles?
Now I’m back in the city and there’s a sense of a growing ennui
A melancholy state of reluctant conformity
I’m day dreaming of a place where I know that I’d rather be
Why not drop everything, head for that wide open sea
So we pack our bags and make for these so called foreign lands
Make the best of the current diplomatic situation while we still can
How does it get so dark so fast guess we’ll never know
How does it get so dark so fast guess we’ll never know
Bonjour Madame, comment tu t’appelles?
Bonjour Madame, comment tu t’appelles?
And when we arrive I’m already buzzing like a bee
Knew I never should have quit that French GCSE
There’s so many things that I would like to say to you
But I’m a slower burner babe, I’m not a microwave
